Zvirgzdes kāpa

In Zvirgzde, Vecumnieki district - one of the highest inland dunes in Latvia - Zvirgzde dune - surrounded by the forest, 32.5 meters high Zvirgzde dune is not only a popular destination for visitors and travelers of Zvirgzde forest, from the top of which there is a picturesque view of the tops of trees, it is also a traditional place for celebrating the Day of the Baltic Unity. Every year on September 22, in the highest place of Vecumnieki county, the locals and other interested people commemorate the 1236 Sun battle surrounded by legends with songs and torches.

The picnic / rest area here is not very well equipped, there is only a table with awnings and trash can. There is no toilet or fireplace.

A small route to the viewing platform starts from the picnic site, past a wide forest clearing, up the side of the dune. The platform offers a view of the felled forest and the surrounding area.
