The route gives you the opportunity to visit both the best-known sights of Līgatne and take you through the less tame areas where you can stretch your legs. Please note that there are sections of the route where there is a lot of mud and some steep climbs, it is very important to wear sturdy hiking boots.
The route starts in the centre near the Tourist Information Centre, where you can park your car. Then you will have the opportunity to see the rock cellars of Ānfabrika, after which the trail leads into the forest, where it is recommended to follow the route shown here. If you do not have the route with you, just keep the Ligatne River on your left until you reach the Gauja River, then follow the Gauja River to the ferry crossing and continue to Katrīnas Rock, where you will find some nice picnic places, so have lunch here. If you still have the strength, visit the nearby Guda Rock and then head back to Līgatne. There, walk through the centre and see the historic buildings of the Līgatne Paper Mill Village.
The muddiest and most difficult section is right along the Līgatne River, which is at the start of the hike. Then the terrain and the degree of difficulty become easy.
