Lake Būšnieki has become a wonderful object for all who enjoy active recreation. The special nature beauty here is now accessible not just to swimmers and boaters, but also to cyclists, runners, ornithologists and those who love walking. Everyone can now enjoy the new, 9km long nature trail, which stretches around the entire lake.
A special health trail has been installed for active lifestyle enthusiasts with 10 gym stands on the way targeting all age groups.
A new 187 meter long wooden boardwalk with a viewing platform for bird watching has been constructed at the marshy coastal area of the lake, with benches and an informative board with pictures of birds that can be met at the Lake Būšnieki. Informative stands on the nature reserve and its flora and fauna have been installed at the cycling trail stretch. The nature reserve Coast of Lake Būšnieki was established in 2004 to protect the various biotopes of European significance. It is 49 hectares wide and is included in the European Protected Areas Natura 2000 network.
There are well-equipped swimming and picnic areas, bicycle storage facilities, boat rental opportunities at the Boat Base, as well as boardwalks for the convenience of surfers.
