Heimtali study trail (1.2-2.5 km)

The study trail is an excellent supplement to the Heimtali manor complex. To get to the start of the trail, drive towards Viljandi from the centre of Heimtali Manor. The parking area is near a small castle-like building – the old distillery. The trail is intended for nature-lovers, who are interested in mighty broadleaved trees. The huge tree trunks, however, are covered with different rare lichen species, many of which are keystone species of key habitats.
The study trail is next to Heimtali distillery and introduces the most widespread broadleaved hardwood trees in Estonia.
At the start of the trail there is a parking area, information board, dry toilet. The study trail consists of two parts. The 2.5 km part goes past the only lime-tree stand in Estonia, and the second is a short 1.2 km trail. Both parts of the trail start and end near the parking area. The trail is partly covered with wood chips, and there are lots of stairs and staircases.
