Stompaku purva taka

Nature reserve "Stompaku purvi" is a unique territory with both riches and cultural and historical heritage. During the Second World War, a partisan settlement was established on the islands of the eastern part of the bog, which was one of the largest in the Baltics. It had 24 bunkers and several surface structures. On March 2, 1945, the famous Battle of Stompaku took place.

A marked trail leads to the National Partisan settlements in the nature reserve “Stompaku purvi”, footbridges have been installed in the wettest parts of the bog. Walking along the nature trail, you will also learn about the birds, animals and plants living in the area.

Marked, linear forest and bog trail, in the wettest places wooden footbridges in a ~ 300 m long section. As the nature reserve "Stompaku Purvi" is located in the Russian border area, visitors must have a passport.

We recommend wearing rubber boots or hiking boots, because even where there are no board footbridges, they are quite wet and muddy. In general, a very nice hike with different types of swamp scenes and added value at the end of the trail, the opportunity to read about guerrilla battles and see the places where the camp was located.
