Maršruts ir vairākus kilometrus garš, un neiet apļa veidā, tāpēc grūti iziet optimāli. Purva laipas dienvidu galā atrodas Luknas skābaržu audze, kas šobrīd ir vienīgā skābaržu tīraudze Latvijā. Tā ir gandrīz pusotru gadsimtu veca un atrodama takas pašā dienvidu galā, tāpēc, ja esat sākuši iet no ziemeļu puses, nepadodieties takas vidū, pēc purva sāksies mežains posms un tad atradīsiet ari skābbāržus. Braucot ar divām automašīnām, ieteicams vienu atstāt takas otrā galā, un visiem pārbraukt uz sakas sākumu ar vienu auto. Tad gājiens ir tikai vienā virzienā
Taka vietām ir stipri bojāta. Tās šķērsošana var sagādāt grūtības. Izturīgākajiem gājējiem, kam pietiks spēka šķērsot visu purvu, takas galā sarūpēts pārsteigums – 11 ha platībā ir apskatāma Luknas skābaržu audze. Šobrīd tā ir vienīgā un lielākā parastā skābaržu tīraudze Latvijā. Luknē – skābaržu populācija sasniedz savas izplatības galējo ziemeļrietumu robežu. Tā ir gandrīz pusotru gadsimtu veca, un rada noskaņu it kā jūs būtu aizceļojuši uz Centrāleiropas platlapju mežiem.

At the southern end of the Dunikas bog is the interesting and unique Skābārži forest. It is a peculiar, very long trail across the Dunikas bog.
The route is several kilometers long and does not form a circle, so it is difficult to walk it optimally. At the southern end of the bog footbridge is the Lukna skābaržu audze, which is currently the only skābaržu tīraudze in Latvia. It is almost a century and a half old and is located at the southern end of the trail, so if you start from the north, don’t give up halfway through the trail, as after the bog there is a wooded section where you will find the black alder trees. If you are traveling with two cars, it is advisable to leave one at the other end of the trail and drive to the beginning of the trail with one car. Then the walk is only in one direction.
The trail is badly damaged in places. Crossing it can be difficult. For the most resilient walkers who have enough strength to cross the entire swamp, a surprise awaits at the end of the trail — an 11-hectare area of Lukna black alder forest. Currently, it is the only and largest natural black alder forest in Latvia. In Lukna, the oak population reaches the northwestern limit of its range. It is almost a century and a half old and creates the feeling that you have traveled to the broadleaf forests of Central Europe.
